We use a consistent rating system so that readers can see not only an online casino’s overall score, but also how that score was determined. Each casino is assessed across a number of individual categories. The results are then converted into scores ranging from 1.0 to 5.0.
A casino’s overall rating is not based solely on the size of its bonus, the number of games it offers or the design of its website. Among other factors, we consider legal transparency, withdrawals, payment methods, bonus terms, game selection, mobile usability, the platform’s technical performance, customer support and other aspects that directly affect the user experience.
Since 14 August 2026, all new and re-reviewed casino reviews have been assessed using this standardised methodology. Older reviews published before the system was introduced are not automatically assigned a score retrospectively. A rating is added only when the casino has been reassessed against the current criteria.
How Our 5-Point Rating System Works
Each category receives a score from 1.0 to 5.0.
We use the following scale as a guide:
- 4.8–5.0: excellent, with no significant weaknesses;
- 4.5–4.7: very good, with only minor drawbacks;
- 4.0–4.4: good, with some noticeable limitations;
- 3.5–3.9: average, with several relevant weaknesses;
- 3.0–3.4: below average, with clear issues or restrictions;
- 2.0–2.9: poor;
- 1.0–1.9: serious problems within the category.
A score of 5.0/5 does not mean that a casino is perfect in every respect. Rather, it indicates that our assessment identified no significant weaknesses within that particular category.
Likewise, a score of 4.5/5 is by no means a poor result. It generally means that the most important features are implemented well, but one or more factors prevent the casino from receiving the maximum score.
Which Categories Make Up the Rating
In a standard casino review, we primarily assess the following areas:
- trustworthiness, licensing and legal transparency;
- bonuses and promotions;
- game selection;
- payment methods;
- withdrawal speed and terms;
- design and usability;
- loading speed and technical performance;
- mobile usability;
- casino app;
- customer support.
Additional criteria may apply depending on the type of casino. For crypto casinos, for example, we examine cryptocurrency payments in greater detail. When reviewing casinos that promote fast withdrawals, we place greater emphasis on actual processing times, withdrawal limits and the KYC procedure.
Not All Criteria Carry the Same Weight
The overall rating is not a simple average of all individual scores.
We believe that criteria affecting the security of a player’s account and access to deposited or won funds should carry more weight than factors such as website design or the availability of a dedicated mobile app.
We therefore apply the following weighting:
- Trustworthiness and licensing: 20%
- Withdrawals: 20%
- Payment methods: 10%
- Bonuses: 10%
- Games: 10%
- Mobile usability: 8%
- Design and UX: 7%
- Loading speed: 5%
- Customer support: 7%
- Casino app: 3%
The total weighting is 100%.
This distribution prevents a casino from receiving a very high overall rating solely because of an attractive design, a large bonus or an extensive game catalogue when, for example, its withdrawal terms are poor or important legal information is insufficiently transparent.
How We Calculate the Overall Rating
Each category score is multiplied by that category’s weighting.
For example, a casino might receive the following scores:
- Trustworthiness: 4.2/5;
- Withdrawals: 4.8/5;
- Payment methods: 4.7/5;
- Bonuses: 4.5/5;
- Games: 4.9/5;
- Mobile usability: 4.8/5;
- Design: 4.6/5;
- Loading speed: 4.7/5;
- Customer support: 4.5/5;
- Casino app: 3.0/5.
Applying the relevant weightings produces the overall rating, which is rounded to one decimal place, for example 4.6/5.
We do not artificially inflate ratings. If the calculation produces a score of 4.64, for example, the published overall rating will be 4.6/5, not 4.7/5.
Trustworthiness, Licensing and Legal Transparency
This is one of the most important categories in our rating system.
Among other things, we assess:
- the operating company;
- the company’s registered location;
- the stated gambling licence;
- the relevant regulatory authority;
- the availability of legal information;
- the Terms and Conditions;
- the Privacy Policy;
- age restrictions;
- regional restrictions;
- the KYC procedure;
- the transparency of rules governing player accounts and balances.
Casinos receive a high score when the operator, licence and legal framework are clearly stated and easy to verify.
Incomplete legal disclosures, conflicting information across different pages or a lack of clarity regarding the company actually operating the platform will negatively affect the rating.
Bonuses and Promotions
When rating a bonus, we look beyond the maximum advertised value and focus primarily on how usable the offer is in practice.
We assess:
- the bonus amount;
- the number of free spins;
- the minimum deposit;
- wagering requirements;
- the maximum permitted bet;
- the validity period;
- excluded games;
- potential winnings limits;
- required bonus codes;
- cashback;
- reload bonuses;
- VIP offers;
- other regular promotions.
A casino offering a 500% bonus will therefore not automatically receive a higher rating than one offering a 100% bonus.
If a large bonus comes with very high wagering requirements, a low maximum bet or substantial withdrawal restrictions, its actual appeal is rated accordingly lower.
Game Selection
When assessing a casino’s game selection, we do not consider only the total number of available titles.
Among other things, we evaluate:
- the size of the game catalogue;
- the number of software providers;
- slots;
- live casino games;
- table games;
- game shows;
- crash games;
- jackpot games;
- search functionality;
- filters;
- game categories;
- game availability in the relevant market.
A casino with 15,000 games may therefore receive a lower rating than a platform with 8,000 titles if its larger catalogue is poorly organised, its search function is limited or a substantial proportion of its games is unavailable to users in the relevant country.
Payment Methods
We assess deposit and withdrawal options separately.
We examine:
- bank cards;
- e-wallets;
- bank transfers;
- local payment methods;
- cryptocurrencies;
- the minimum deposit;
- the minimum withdrawal;
- supported account currencies;
- potential fees;
- whether each method is available for both deposits and withdrawals.
Higher ratings are awarded to platforms that support relevant payment methods commonly used in the applicable country and do not create unnecessary obstacles to financial transactions.
Withdrawal Speed and Terms
Withdrawals are among the most important components of our rating system.
We analyse:
- the processing time stated by the casino;
- the actual processing time, where a practical test has been conducted;
- the minimum withdrawal amount;
- daily, weekly and monthly withdrawal limits;
- available withdrawal methods;
- KYC requirements;
- potential additional checks;
- fees;
- restrictions related to bonus funds.
If a casino claims that withdrawals are processed within a few hours but our test shows that the actual processing time is significantly longer, our rating is based on the real-world result.
We also distinguish between the casino’s own processing time and any additional time a bank or payment service provider may require before the funds are finally credited.
Design and Usability
We do not rate a casino’s design solely on whether its website is visually appealing.
Usability is the decisive factor.
We assess:
- the structure of the main menu;
- access to the cashier;
- game search;
- filtering options;
- the bonus section;
- the user account;
- navigation;
- readability;
- the logical placement of key features.
Even a modern, visually sophisticated website may receive a lower score if users struggle to find important information or basic features are unnecessarily complicated.
Loading Speed and Technical Performance
We test how quickly and reliably the casino platform performs in real-world use.
Among other things, we examine the loading times of:
- the homepage;
- the game catalogue;
- the bonus section;
- the cashier;
- the user account;
- individual games;
- the mobile version.
Delays when switching pages, lagging elements, unstable menus and other technical issues are also taken into account.
Our speed rating is based on actual use of the platform, not solely on the result of a single automated performance test.
Mobile Usability
The mobile version of a casino is assessed separately from its desktop version.
We examine:
- responsive design;
- the mobile menu;
- speed;
- the game catalogue;
- search functionality;
- games;
- the cashier;
- deposits;
- withdrawals;
- the user account;
- live chat.
If users can comfortably access all essential features on a smartphone without having to switch to the desktop version, the casino receives a correspondingly higher rating.
Casino App
We regard a dedicated app as an additional feature. This category therefore carries a relatively low weighting in our overall rating.
We assess:
- whether a dedicated app is available;
- Android support;
- iOS support;
- the installation process;
- stability;
- the game selection;
- payment options;
- login;
- the range of available features.
The absence of an app is not a serious disadvantage as long as the casino’s mobile website reliably provides all essential features.
For this reason, the lack of an app can have only a limited effect on the overall rating.
Customer Support
We rate customer support based on the actual contact options available and the quality of the responses received.
We assess:
- live chat;
- email;
- other contact options;
- service hours;
- time to first response;
- response quality;
- the support agent’s expertise;
- available languages.
A fast response alone is not enough to earn a high score.
For example, if an agent responds within 20 seconds but cannot clearly answer questions about bonus terms, KYC or withdrawals, this will negatively affect the rating.
When the Overall Rating May Be Capped
In certain cases, a casino cannot receive a very high overall rating regardless of strong results in other areas.
This applies in particular to serious issues involving:
- legal transparency;
- withdrawals;
- hidden restrictions;
- blocked or withheld funds;
- discrepancies between published terms and actual practices;
- user account security.
A large game catalogue, an attractive bonus or an excellent mobile experience cannot offset a serious deficiency in any of these areas.
In such cases, our editorial team may impose a cap on the maximum overall rating a casino can receive.
For example, a casino with a serious withdrawal issue cannot achieve an overall rating of 4.8/5 solely on the strength of high scores for games, bonuses and mobile usability.
Where Our Information Comes From
For our ratings, we primarily use information available directly from the casino.
This includes:
- the official website;
- the Terms and Conditions;
- bonus terms;
- payment information;
- legal disclosures;
- the user account;
- customer support.
Where possible, we also test certain features ourselves.
If important information cannot be reliably verified, we do not present it as an established fact. Missing or conflicting information may also affect the transparency score within the relevant category.
Ratings Can Change
Once assigned, a rating is not permanently fixed.
Online casinos regularly change their:
- bonus offers;
- limits;
- payment methods;
- KYC requirements;
- game catalogues;
- mobile solutions;
- legal disclosures;
- withdrawal rules.
Following a reassessment, a rating may therefore either improve or decline.
For this reason, our casino reviews include the date of the assessment or update. This allows readers to see how current the published information is.
What Happens to Older Casino Reviews
Even before this methodology was introduced, our casino reviews covered bonus offers, games, payment methods, withdrawals, licensing information, mobile usability and other important features. At that time, however, the findings were not converted into individual numerical scores.
We do not assign ratings to older articles retrospectively.
Since 14 August 2026, a numerical score has been assigned only after a casino has undergone a new or repeat assessment under the current methodology.
During the transition period, our website may therefore feature all of the following types of casino reviews at the same time:
- new reviews with a rating;
- older reviews that have been reassessed and now include a rating;
- older reviews without a numerical rating.
The absence of a score from an older review does not mean that the casino was not assessed at the time. It simply means that the article has not yet been reassessed under the new standardised rating system.
What the Overall Rating Means
An overall rating such as 4.6/5 summarises the results across all assessed categories, taking their respective weightings into account.
However, the overall score should not be viewed in isolation.
For example, a casino with an overall rating of 4.6/5 might receive the following individual scores:
- 4.9/5 for games;
- 4.8/5 for mobile usability;
- 4.7/5 for withdrawals;
- 4.1/5 for bonuses.
Another casino with the same overall rating may have a completely different balance of strengths and weaknesses.
For this reason, our casino reviews display both the overall rating and the individual category scores.
This allows readers to understand how a casino earned its score and decide for themselves which strengths and weaknesses are most relevant to their own needs.
